It’s been a very musical time in Sane Francisco these last couple of weeks! I just returned yesterday from the Jam For Freedom tour to So-Cal (a post on that coming soon) which is why this video of the final night of Outside Lands — taken last Sunday — is being posted today and already seems out of date considering the new guidelines from the CDC about other places (namely, schools) where kids also congregate:
At the time of filming however, Outside Lands had this policy:
The festival currently does not have any mandated COVID-19 policies. However, for the safety of everyone, we highly recommend that all attendees are vaccinated and boosted, and we highly encourage everyone to mask up when unable to distance from others. Although this is currently just a recommendation, COVID-19 protocols are subject to change as mandated by the City and County of San Francisco.
Myself and a fellow Saner didn’t have tickets but we wanted to check out what was going down on the last night (he’s a Post Malone fan). We stood at the edge of the fence and listened to the last few songs.
Of course, we also wanted to make sure the kids were safe, ha. We really hoped they were all wearing masks and socially distancing per the recommendations. However, mostly everyone we saw were not… YIKES! No, but really kids we love that you’re prioritizing staying sane over staying “safe.”
Then, right at the very end as we were leaving, we saw a car being escorted out of the lands with 8 police motorbikes for protection. We wondered what band or artist it might be but then a guy we met conjectured that it was likely London Breed. This seemed probable to us; I mean we all know that — no matter what the CDC says (and what she herself says) — she wouldn’t ever let a silly ol’ pandemic ruin her fun, and especially not a chance to enjoy cool live music.
You know, I think our Mayor should start her own band and play next year at this ridiculously overpriced stinkin’ so-called music festival. Listen out for London Breed & the Hypocrites with her new album “Rules For Thee,” including the future smash hit, “Tony-Toni-Toné-Deaf”
