Contain all my shades of Beige

In innocence of heart I find

Stevie's rainbow, colour-blind"

Happy for your sanity. Somewhere here I have a video where I talk about walking in Oakland, mid-Covid--past house after house with BLM, rainbow flags, Ukranian flags, Love is Love--and how I couldn't get a single person to look me in the eye and say hello. 'Beige Against the Machine'--so funny!

Tereza, I love your videos. (Btw I watched two yesterday but I was so tired I forgot to like/ comment) and that one sounds hilarious; please do share that here if you can find it easily.

I'm not finding that one but this one seems from the same era: https://thirdparadigm.substack.com/p/manufacturing-contempt. The next time I'll be in Oakland will be Feb 8th to get my eyebrows tattooed ;-) My daughter finally moved out of Temescal after 7 yrs. They got married in Nov 2022, then all hell broke loose. Her husband's mom, who'd had cancer, died two weeks later. Then you remember the flooding last year, they had a basement apt where the landlord stuccoed over garage doors at the bottom of a sloping driveway. Inches of water covered everything, and this with her new husband gone to mourn with his family. Then black mold started coming through the walls ... She's still traumatized.

After a l-o-n-g ordeal, they found a place in the very beige Pleasant Hill. Strip malls galore but no theft, they don't lock their doors, they walk every night. I loved Oakland and miss the food, the edginess. But also don't miss the pretentiousness and edginess.

I remember seeing his memorial in DC. It was very well done and his stone likeness so perfect, I was waiting for it to transform into flesh. Our daughter lives right on the line between Oakland and Berkeley. We visit frequently. Everything you say here is true. Thank you for your work on Substack and elsewhere. Your voice is important.
